I came across this post via the CA Arts Council and had to reread your words, mistaking them for my own. I'm an arts educator, disappointed that CA has taken so many cuts to arts programs. My partners and I have been talking about starting a new organization to bring art back into Bay Area schools, and was so happy to see that PS Arts is doing the same thing in Southern and Central CA. Thank you for posting their link!

I get frustrated that the efforts that we put forth to get the arts back into curriculum are usually met with suggestions to teach in the after-school program. By tossing the arts programs into "playtime," they will always be regarded as no more than a hobby. I believe that this is directly related to the struggles that working artists go through today.

What a great surprise to see this blog on your site and on the Huffington Post. Thank you for spreading the word about the very special program we have in Reef Sunset.
But most importantly THANK YOU Lynda and Stewart for your tremendous support of our work in the Central Valley.
I would love to take you on a site visit, if you haven't already been there and talk more about the program.

We will look forward to seeing you at one of our events soon.

Wonderful innovation!
We need this IMMEDiATELY-- where is this house being built,
where can I see it?
In Illinois anywhere?
If not in Illinois, in any other midwestern state?
This should be promoted if not even subsidized for lower income people.......A.S.

Hi Jeannine Clontz, Great Interview answers. I have learned a lot and had started my virtual assistant business since last 2 months only. I believe VA should work as a partner with the customers and not as a virtual service provider.

Great interview and thanks for sharing it. Way to go Jeannine! I'm on of IVAA's overseas members and love this industry. It's allowed me to be home for the past 15 years and bring up my daughters.

Because the philanthropic efforts of our family of companies extend far beyond the environment, into such areas as education and the arts, 1% For The Planet is not a viable alternative for third-party certification for all our companies. However, there are other third-parties we are working with in these endeavors, such as our 15-year relationship with Conservation International through our FIJI Water green initiative and the Fiji Water Foundation. You can read more about these endeavors here: http://www.roll.com/commitment-to-education.php

Many of the charitable donations that Stewart and I make are at the personal level, rather than through our companies. For example, this year we donated $20 million to CalTech for the development of a new sustainability center. You can read about the CalTech donation here: http://www.labusinessjournal.com/article.asp?aID=84115803.3353085.1794338.4764165.5037151.507

My endorsement of 1% For The Planet is meant to illustrate the importance of giving back in general. The environment is just one of the many areas where we do so. We walk the walk. It is what I live by and why I work.

Lynda - are your companies giving 1% to the planet? It isn't clear from this article. Just wanted to make sure you were walking your talk!

Thanks.

Hello Lynda...I couldn't help but to notice how well your life has evolved.
Art, agriculture, poms, etc...nice. Good job to both you and Stewart. I remember when I
helped you balance your checkbook before marrying Stewart. You two did well together.
I have 2 boys-Donald 13 and Weldon 7. Terrific kids.Yes, I'm over a hundred. My wife Kaja and I have been together since 1992 and we live in Villa Park near Orange.
I made a lot, spent then lost a lot..regrouped, remarried and had kids! (age 53 for 1st one).
Learned a lot about life. Not many regrets except staying with Sue too long & going broke.
I do however, believe I forgot to thank you for essentially getting me started in my own business years ago. With that said, THANK YOU. I have worked alone for some 30+ years!
I currently own a sign shop doing custom work for County of Orange and several property management companies along with photography, prints, layouts etc. Yes, I am still in art
and always looking for more todo. You know all about all that. A never ending quest.
According to your photo above...you are "unaged". Amazing. Must be pomegranite juice.
One last item, I still maintain the Tropical Sunglasses were shot poorly and no printer
could have saved them even if I was in Yucatan.
My best and admiring regards to you and Stewart..

Hi Michael,

We spoke at the trade show in NYC last month- you probably will remember me because I was allergic to many soaps and beauty products. Just letting you know that your VIVO soap leaves my skin feeling incredible and well nourished. It is great and I have been telling everyone about it! Best of luck to you! Sincerely, Susan
